Jersey board appoints new GM

Jersey Australia’s new general manager, Mike Weise.JERSEYAustralia’s board of management hasannounced that Mike Weise has accepted the role of general manager.

Mr Weise comes to Jersey Australia with 28 years of experience in the dairy industry in Australia, the UK and Ireland.

He started his career milking Jerseys, Shorthorns and Holstein/Fresians and served as executive officer of WestVic Dairy, the Regional Development program funded by the farmers’ levy.

For the past three years he has been consulting to not-for-profit and agricultural organisations and serves as a director on three boards.

Now, Mr Weisehas decided to return full-time to his passion for dairy.

Mr Ness said hehas exceptional communication skills, strong leadership and organisational skills and a well-established network within Australia’s dairy industry

Mr Weise says he is pleased to be back in the dairy family and looks forward to meeting with Jersey Australia’s existing members as well as looking for opportunities to grow the business.

He started as general manager of Jersey Australia last month and metJersey Australia members at the Sydney RoyalShow and will meet withmembers at the Central Gippsland Autumn Fair,April 12,and the Jersey Australia annual general meeting,May 18-20.

Mr Weisemanaged an agricultural college herd in the UK which led into a teaching role at the college and, after five years, he won a 12-month exchange with an Australian agricultural lecturer.

His work history includes delivering services to the National Farmers’ Union in the UK and managing a team of Target 10 dairy extension officers.
