Bullimbal P&C president Katrina Webb said organisers were pleased with the turnout.

“It was really lovely to see a lot of people with disabilities come out, because it was familiar surroundings to them. I was also really happy to see lots of helpers, and we had children of teachers come along and help,” she said.

Mrs Webb said one of the many highlights were the local musicians who performed, with plenty of activities and entertainment for all ages.

“The sideshow alley was very popular with the children, and we sold pretty much all our cakes and the barbecue sold plenty of sausages. We are really looking forward to doing another one in November for Christmas,” she said.

The money raised from the weekend’s fete is going towards a new oven for the school’s kitchen.

“The one at the moment is too small and all the seals are gone on the cover. Cooking is a huge part of Bullimbal, teaching children life skills,” Mrs Webb said.

She said she wasn’t sure how much they had raised at the weekend, but they had raised about $3000 on previous occasions.
