This comes after the 2015 event saw 11 prominent Tamworth identities raise $50,000 and the 2016 “stars” are ready to step outside their comfort zones and performa dance routine on stageat the Capitol Theatre in Tamworth.

Each local “star” is partnered with a professional dance instructor from Tamworth City Dance Academy, Cherie Gaites Fitness and Fun, and new addition Bellylicious, to learn a specific dance style and routine to perform at a gala event on Saturday, June 18.

“The 2015 event was a fantastic success, not only with the amazing amount of money our ‘stars’ raised, the feedback from the community who came along to the night was outstanding,” Cancer Council NSW’s AmyWalker said.

“This style of event is quite unique and very entertaining for the audience. We are pleased to have our special guest hosts, breakfast radio personalities Josh and Kirsty from 92.9.”

People’s choice winner from last year, Joe Townsend, said he enjoyed the dancelessons and, although dancing in front of 400 peoplewas daunting, it was also inspirational.

He raised $7000 and wished all the new stars all the best.

The line-up of local “stars” includes journalist Kris Wall from Prime7 News, Kevin Anderson’s PA Michael Hansen, New England Mutual manager Daniel Meyer, 2016 Queen of Country Music Maddy Lang, amonga host of other local community “stars”.

Each star will fundraise for the Cancer Council NSW in the lead-up to the gala event.

The Stars of Tamworth event is on Saturday, June 18 with tickets available from the venue.
